The design intention calls for creation of a nurturing and conducive learning environment while utilizing the allocated land effeciently. Classrooms are designed to have north-south orientation with cross-ventilation. They are planned around gardens with lush planting and water feature to reduce heat again. This results in a building which consumes energy more efficiently. The school was awarded BCA Green-Mark Gold Award.

The design caters for flexibility usage of spaces. Several sets of operable partitions are installed in the mph/ish, classroom and teaching rooms. These facilities are for big group teaching and small group discussion. Where possible, open planning is being adopted to enhance interaction between users, non-academic staff, academic staff and students alike.
